World Mental Health Day
Every year IS celebrates World Mental Health Day.

About the Event
World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. The WORLD FEDERATION For MENTAL HEALTH’s slogan is; there can be “NO HEALTH WITHOUT MENTAL HEALTH”.
Iswar Sankalpa, as an organization working with mental health, observed this day world jointly with the Indian Psychiatric Society, Eastern Zonal branch.
The Guest of Honour for the program was Dr. Indrajit Ray, Hon’ble Sheriff, Kolkata.
We inaugurated a report on our activities, as a document of the work done by us in addition to the work which still needs to be looked into called – The Nowhere Man. Certificates of appreciation and merit were also presented to the Community Caregivers from the Outreach programme.
There was a screening of a documentary film and a panel discussion on the theme – The Great Push – Investing in Mental Health.
The Panelists were Smt. Arijit Dutta- Professor C.U.,Smt. Paramita Chakraborty- Professor J.U., Dr. Sabyasachi Mitra- psychiatrist, Prof. Nilanjana Sanyal- Psychologists, Shri. Anirban Chowdhury- editor, Hindustan times, Smt. Swati Bhattacharya– Journalist, Rtn. Rajendra Khandelwal, Chairman, Dhanwantari Group.
The Moderators were Dr. Gautam Kumar Bandopadhay and Prof. Shuvendu Dasgupta.
It was a well-attended event with interesting and illuminating views raised by the panel.
