Today is a day the whole country celebrates the bond of a brother-sister, where the brother promises protection to his sister, as the sister ties a string symbolizing her love. We at Iswar Sankalpa feel that today is a good to celebrate with our homeless clients – where we tie rakhi to each other, leaving aside the male-female cliché of this festival. We are sisters together, in this journey where we pledge protection to our clients and our hearts fill with all the love there is to share.

About the Event
We had invited a number of guests to make this festival special for our clients. There were about 80 clients from the shelter and outreach combined present at the venue along with actress Koel Mullick, Police Officials from Alipore Police Station and Rotarian Rajendra Khandelwal.
The dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp followed by a small cultural dance performance by the women residents of the shelter.
Post this; the clients tied rakhi to our guests and vice-versa pledging protection. The guests also interacted with the clients and they shared their hopes and dreams.
Everyone was then served some snacks before the wrapping up of the event and said their good-byes to the visitors.
